Ward Cunningham developed the world's first wiki, Ward's wiki. He may have adapted this idea (like a number of other ones) from the work of Christopher Alexander (see The Alexander conspiracy).
Ward Cunningham has also been heavily involved in other influential ideas, including design patterns, CRC cards and extreme programming.
He has previously worked for a various important software companies including Tektronix, Microsoft and the Eclipse Foundation and is currently the chief technology officer at AboutUs, a wiki internet domain directory.
Ward Cunningham is half of Ward and Kent.
